Welcome to Fancy Gap Elementary School
July 2026
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I say it every year, I cannot wait to see our school filled back up with smiling faces. Our theme this year is “Every Bulldog has a SuperPower”. Fancy Gap Elementary sets high yet achievable expectations and tailors instruction to meet each student's needs for a successful future, turning our kryptonite into SuperPowers!
Our student, staff, and family expectations of “Working as one as we strive for excellence in ALL we do” will help us to continue to provide a learning environment where all students can be successful. It is our hope that your student will feel challenged academically, learn how to navigate their challenging worlds, serve their greater FGES community and realize the importance of the academic and relational tasks they are learning.
UNITY:
Family members are a key to our success as a school. Together we can help all children to learn and grow as individuals and strong members of our community. Teachers and I will be in communication with you to celebrate your student’s accomplishments and to let you know areas needed for growth, be it in academics and/or behavior. Please refer to our FGES parent/student handbook and the CCPSD handbook for expectations and consequences. We want to work with you to ensure your student’s success.
ATTENDANCE:
It is the expectation of this school and the state of Virginia that your student(s) be in school all day everyday. We depend on families to lay the building blocks of good attendance in the elementary setting. Please avoid excess absences and tardies by planning doctor visits, vacations, and other events according to our school calendar. We do realize that emergencies and unexpected events do occur. Please promptly notify our office and provide appropriate documentation when needed.
BUILDING UPGRADES:
Our Building has been undergoing some impressive upgrades! The exterior of our building is in the process of being painted. We will be getting new windows installed in August. We are upgrading our Pk/Kindergarten playground equipment (thanks to our fundraising efforts). Our office parking lot has been paved and painted. We no longer have a coal boiler and are now operating on gas! Things are moving for our sweet school!
We want to thank our school board, Superintendent's office, staff, parents, community, and of course our students for your continued support to make this school year SUPER!
